Post Tensioning

Balvac offers post tensioning for a range of projects including buildings, bridges, circular structures and water tanks. Buildings that may benefit from post tensioning include clear span offices, heavily serviced buildings, luxury residential apartments, multi storey car parks, high-rise buildings and shopping centres.

Post tensioned floor slabs in office and residential buildings offer commercial and technical advantages when compared to traditional reinforced concrete. Designers can use the properties of post tensioning to reduce slab depth, realising significant savings on concrete and reinforcement for grids of 6.0 m span and above. Alternately longer clear spans can be chosen for a given slab depth.

Clients can benefit. Adopted early enough, a post-tensioned slab solution will allow designers to reduce foundation costs and maximise floor space for a given building envelope. Complex load transfer problems e.g. offices above underground parking can also be solved using post tensioning.
