Marlborough Gate Car Park in Milton Keynes was built in 1997 and since it opened users have struggled with the tight turning spaces and narrow access ramps.
The owner, Milton Keynes Council, has instigated a scheme to improve the usability of the car park. Balvac was awarded the £300k Design and Build contract to undertake these improvements.
Balvac has a good track record in undertaking car park refurbishment schemes and is experienced in the management of the complex issues surrounding working in car parks.
This latest award was made on the strength of our innovative design and ability to offer best value solutions to the car park owner.
It will be necessary to implement a total shut down of the car park for a period of approximately 16 weeks, commencing in May 2007. Balvac’s site team will then demolish and reconstruct 20 access ramps to improve the geometry of turning circles for cars.
The improvements will be of great benefit to the car park users and will inevitably prevent many accidents and scrapes in the years to come!
